The Alex. Brown Center for Entrepreneurship offers two scholarships for students who demonstrate a strong interest in entrepreneurship.
Scholarship applications are made available each Spring. We have awarded scholarships for the 2026-2027 academic year and will open applications for the 2027-2028 academic year in Spring 2027.
The Joseph and Frieda Faiman Eisenberg/VPC Endowed Scholarship
The Joseph and Frieda Faiman Eisenberg/VPC Endowed Scholarship is available for UMBC undergraduate students.
The purpose of the Joseph and Frieda Faiman Eisenberg/VPC Endowed Scholarship is to provide a $500 scholarship award to need based students interested in becoming an entrepreneur and are associated with the Alex. Brown Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation at the University. Students who are interested in careers in video production or broadcasting will be encouraged to apply.
CRITERIA:
- Be a full-time degree-seeking student in good standing at UMBC
- Submit a personal statement about their interest in entrepreneurship
- Submit a resume
- Demonstrate an interest in becoming an entrepreneur
- Have a minimum of a 3.0 grade point average

The PNC Scholars/Fellows Program
The PNC Scholars/Fellows Program is available for UMBC graduate and undergraduate students and awards can be applied as academic scholarships or “seed funding” for an entrepreneurial venture.
The PNC Scholars/Fellows Program provides awards up to $2,000 to outstanding UMBC students interested in becoming an entrepreneur. The awards will be used as academic scholarships (up to $1,000), or as “seed funding” (up to $2,000) to launch new ventures or community based social entrepreneurship projects.
CRITERIA:
- Submit a 1-2 page personal statement about their interest in entrepreneurship. The statement should:
- Describe the impact an academic scholarship will have on their future as an entrepreneur or social innovator or
- Describe how the award money will be used as “seed funding” to launch a new venture, or “seed funding” to launch a community based social entrepreneurship project. Submit a preliminary budget outlining anticipated expenses.
- Submit an updated resume
- Have a minimum GPA of 3.0
